Sheila Lloyd has left her post as the Director of Nursing and Quality at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre where she has been since 2018, to join the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) in the newly created post of Director of Nursing, FNF Academy.
Sheila will lead the Foundation’s work in developing its leadership support for British Diaspora Nurses working in the NHS in England. Her remit will include developing the Small Grants Programme that the Foundation established in collaboration with NHS England and the CNO for England, Ruth May. The programme aims to support projects that advance the health and wellbeing and professional development of nurses working in England who have been trained overseas.
Sheila will continue to be part of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Assembly for the North West of England with NHS England which complements the work of the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
The Foundation runs leadership courses for all NHS and healthcare staff and has a long history of empowering NHS staff from diverse backgrounds, with 50% of participants across all Foundation leadership courses coming from ethnic minority backgrounds.
In 2018 FNF created the Windrush Leadership Programme, in collaboration with Health Education England, for descendants of the Windrush Generation and other diverse NHS staff. The purpose of the programme is to empower participants and equip them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to pursue senior roles.
