On May 12th 2021, the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) hosted our annual service to commemorate the life of Florence Nightingale at The Westminster Abbey London. The socially distanced Service was attended by nurses and midwives and some special guests including The Rt Hon. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care The Rt. Hon Matt Hancock. The service was led by The Dean of Westminster the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle. Lesson and prayer readers included FNF Ambassador Helena Bonham Carter CBE, Professor Greta Westwood CBE RN and FNF CEO, Ruth May CNO for England, Eileen Sills DBE RN former Chief Nurse of Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, Colonel Sharon Findlay Defence Nursing Advisor and FNF Trustee.
